St. John the Baptist Bressingham

Bressingham Bell Tower
We have a serious problem in the Bell Tower at Bressingham due to Jackdaws nesting in the tower. The Bellringers are asking for help (preferably of the younger fitter kind) to help remove the nests and help repair the damage caused by the Jackdaws. Suitable safety clothing will be provided. In the first instance either contact me (The Rector or Ted Curzon (688186).

Bressingham Parish Council
Five Councillors were present at the July meeting, also Mr. Spratt of the County Council and one parishioner.
Mr. Spratt reported on a pilot scheme being investigated by N.E.C. to provide care for the elderly by buying into a Social Services plan, also on discussions regarding Unitary Authority.
A resident of Common Road about the state of that road, particularly poor drainage and overgrown hedges; Mr. Spratt is to follow this up.
Amongst planning matters discussed was the refusal by S.N.D.C. planners for permission for the sub division of a garden and the erection of a single dwelling in School Road.
Parish Councillors had been in favour of this application and bearing in mind permission given for 9 affordable houses in the same road, intend to object to the refusal by S.N.D.C. and pursue the application.
The Post Office will close in October but the Village Shop will continue. An agreement has been reached by the owner, Mr. Byrne and Mr. & Mrs. Church who will lease the store and run the business.
The Playing Field at Fersfield has been tidied up and new fencing erected but Parish Councillors were concerned that the play equipment on the playing field at Bressingham was in poor condition and much of it unsafe.

Church News
I am pleased to tell you that the altar brass has been professionally cleaned and will in future only require to be rubbed with a good clean duster. It has not been lacquered - which it had previously been - thank goodness!
This has not come cheap unfortunately, and if anyone reading this would like to contribute to the cost I would be pleased to hear from you on 01379 688291, or dianajb@btconnect.com
Alternatively, you can always leave a cheque at the Rectory made payable to Bressingham PCC.
The Bressingham Harvest Festival will be on Sunday 21st September at 6.30pm and the Harvest Supper will be shared with Fersfield and will be at the Village Hall on Friday the 5th September.
Looking further into the future Eric & Diana Burroughes are hosting A Cottage Pie Party at Burrowood on Friday 17th October at 7.30pm; tickets are £10.
