 Wedding Information

A wedding is only provisionally booked until a completed application form is received and confirmed by the incumbent.

Wedding Banns and licences (where required) are the responsibility of the bride and groom. Banns should be called in the home parishes of both the bride and groom on three consecutive Sundays preceding the wedding and within three months of the wedding and where necessary a Banns Certificate should be obtained from the incumbent of the parish in which the banns were called and should be obtained before the final rehearsal. N.B. Failure to do this may mean that the wedding may not be able to go ahead. (There may be some changes to this in 2008).

One or both of the parties have to have a residential address, for 21 days, in the Benefice. Residence in the United Benefice qualifies for marriage in any of the five churches. Written evidence of this may have to be produced. This is a legal requirement. (Some changes will be made to this in 2008)

You will be required to see the clergy on at least three occasions before the wedding, two of the sessions will be with other couples and one will be the rehearsal as near as practicable (to you) to the wedding.

Flowers, bells, music, hymns, videos and people taking part in the service are at the discretion of the incumbent and permission should be sought before any arrangements are made. All fees are to be paid in cash at the rehearsal or by cheque at least 2 weeks before the wedding.
